The name "Seventh Friend Volunteers" was taken from a poem* by Linda Mae Richardson, Assistant Director of Victory in the Valley, who wrote of her experiences after her diagnosis of metastatic malignant melanoma 30 years ago. "Comforters" speaks of the 7th Friend who came and said "I care, I'm here. I want to help you through this."
